Amy bat-wing top pattern

This is yet another item in the September collection – I am sooo behind schedule with the Claire dress not done yet. Next month I will be even busier than this month, and I think I won’t have much time to invest in pattern making that I am addicted to.

OK, enough with whining. I am introducing the Amy bat-wing top pattern, which is initially sketched with the Sarah skirt.

And this is it in 3D simulation. I am really happy with the way it turns out to be in reality:

Do you think that this pattern is quite versatile? You can make it with thin or thick fabric, and the prints are all up to you!

This Amy top pattern is created in layered PDF format.

The pattern is made using layered PDF, please check for your desired size before printing so you won’t waste your paper. If you still do not know how to print a layered PDF, please check for the instruction here.

You can print this using your home printer and A4/Letter paper. I calculated the printing area so that you will be able to use either type of paper to print the pattern out perfectly. Always print the first page first and check with the test square if you are printing at the right scale before you print out the whole pattern.

Cutting instruction:

After taping down all the pages following the instruction, the pattern pieces will look like this:

There are 5 pattern pieces to be cut as follows:

A. Front – 1pcs

B. Back – 1pcs

C. Cuff – 2pcs

D. Front facing – 1pcs + Fusible interfacing – 1pcs

E. Back facing – 1pcs + Fusible interfacing – 1pcs

You can replace Front facing and Back facing with bias tape. I recommend you to use bias tape when you choose knit fabric, it will help you to get a more secure and flatter neckline.

The Sarah skirt pattern

I am introducing another piece in the September collection – the Sarah skirt.

This skirt features a paneled design, a pencil silhouette which falls right below the knee and a kick pleat at the back for easy movement. It is a practical piece of clothing, with countless mixing options. This Sarah pencil skirt will look great with button down shirt and high heels for a working day, or with simple T shirt and sneakers for a date with your girlfriends.

You can either make it with just one color or print (like the example below that i have made):

… or with different colors for a color blocked skirt which creates the illusion of a longer and slimmer bottom part:

One advantage of this skirt is that it is easy to make. It will not take you too much time to finish this nice piece of garment. After printing, taping and cutting the pages of the PDF file, you will get the pattern pieces as follow:

The Lynn dress pattern

Hi guys,

After a long hiatus, I am back! I was so busy with my personal issues that kept coming one after one. I was really impatient because I could not sit in front of my computer and do my favorite activity of drafting patterns.

Today I just finished drafting and simulating the Lynn dress in the September collection. This is the sketch:

I decided that I will make this dress with stretch fabric to make it a friendly project for new sewists. It does not have waist or bust darts, and it hugs the body pretty closely.

Let’s see how it turns out on 3D models. This is it on a size M model:

And this is the Lynn dress on size 5XL model. OK, I must admit that I prefer curvy women and most of the time I think my dresses look better on them 🙂

Tada, the Devon dress is coming!

I have been working on the September collection for a few days – and that’s why there have been no new patterns this month yet. I plan to finish the whole collection before sharing them all to you.

But, there is always a ‘but’, the Devon dress is just too beautiful that I must share with you right away! Just look how it turns out from this sketch

to this 3D simulation (which is 95% accuracy), on a size M model:

And this is the Devon dress in size 5XL. Do you think that it flatters just any body?

Do you think that the Devon dress is lovable? I definitely think so – and I will make one for myself 🙂

Just wait, it will come in a few days, with a far wider size range than the designer stores.
