Deep sweetheart neckline dress pattern

(Scroll down to the end of the post for download links)

Okay, this is another sweet dress for a prom or party. I like how the deep sweetheart neckline brings up the vintage feelings and adds extra charms to the whole look. This baby is a little black dress that can make a complete outfit on its own, but can also be mixed with necklace to make it stand out a bit more. So if you are confident enough to bare your chest, this is a great option. Of course, if you do not like black (just like me), I can imagine it in a range of colors: bright red for a sexy lady, royal blue for the confident one, or yellow for the energetic girl.

The pattern is created in pdf format using A4 paper. I can also create the pattern in other paper sizes (A0 to A4, Letter, Tabloid), so please inform me if you need them.

Print the patterns on A4 paper at actual size/no scaling/100%. Not sure how to print and cut the patterns? Check the guide here.

The dress in the model image has side seam pockets but my pattern does not? And you want to add side seam pockets to the pattern for additional convenience? Just go ahead because it is too easy, just follow the quick instruction here.

Again, happy sewing! I look forward to seeing your masterpiece!

Cutting instruction:

After taping down all the pages following the instruction, the overall layout of the pattern pieces is much like this (the arrangement of pattern pieces will vary a bit with sizes because I want to utilize all space to result in least pages):

The cutting instruction is for the dress with facings. If you choose to sew the dress with bias binding, skip the front facing and back facing pieces. If you choose to sew the dress with bodice lining, skip the facing pieces and cut a set of front and back pieces in lining fabric. I personally prefer sewing this dress with bodice lining, because the wide neckline will not be so good with just interfacing unless you find a way to make sure it stays inside (like applying some kind of fabric glue, or using embellishments to fix the interfacing).

A. Front Skirt - 1pcs
B. Back Skirt - 2pcs
C. Front - 1pcs
D. Back - 2pcs
E. Sleeve - 2pcs
F. Front Facing – 1pcs + Fusible Interfacing – 1pcs
G. Back Facing – 2pcs + Fusible Interfacing – 2pcs

Carolina Herrera inspired V neck button down dress

The pattern I am sharing with you today is a dress inspired by a beautiful piece in the Carolina Herrera Spring 2018 collection. Yes, you are going to see a lot of Carolina Herrera inspired dresses in my blog, because I am a huge fan of her designs! Who would not love the elegant designs that do not show too much skin but still make the wearer so charming and feminine? Not only her designs, I also love Carolina herself – she has been a fashion icon ever since she was young until now.

I love this deep V neck button down dress. It has a fun print (of course we cannot find THAT print anywhere in the fabric stores, but we can look for something similar, or choose any print we want, because we are making it ourselves!) a midi length and a lovely low V neck for those who dare to show off some skin. The dress calls for summer – bright fun prints and sleeveless design can keep you cool in the heat. Just put on the dress, a straw hat, slip-ons or wedges, and you are ready for the beach or the park! It is also suitable for garden parties where you can have a lot of fun with your friends and family.

In this pattern I already modified a bit of the neckline – after all, we are not all so confident to bare our chest in front of many eyes. I am quite an old-fashioned woman, so don’t mind me. You can cut the neckline deeper if you like.

The pattern was generated using a free online tool named Sewist CAD (you will find details here: http://www.sewist.com/) so it is not totally up to my intention. The kick pleat is not needed but is still shown. You should remove the kick pleat by drawing a straight line from the hip down to the hemline.

This dress can be made with various kinds of fabric. You can choose a 100% cotton fabric to cool you down in the summer heat; or use brocade for an evening date or a wedding. The options are endless, and you are always free to try (and do not fear to fail).

It is sometimes tricky to sew the V neckline – it is cut on a bias, so it may stretch and causing the neckline to gap. You should apply fusible interfacing before sewing to ensure it stays flat. Be extra careful when you sew the neckline – the quality of the dress depends much on it.

Again, the pattern is created in pdf format. You download the pattern of your size (check in the Size Chart) and print it on A4 paper at actual size/no scaling/100%. There is a test square where you can check if the pattern is printed true to size. If your size is different from the one shown in my blog, please comment your measurements below, and I will make a pattern most close to your measurements.

Again, happy sewing! I hope to see your masterpiece!
