In the mood for a night gown

Dear readers,

I have been making patterns for quite some time, and got some emails from you encouraging me to make more and more practical and simple patterns for you to sew for themselves and their beloved ones. Of course I will, because pattern making is one of my biggest hobbies – together with sewing and watching haute couture shows and playing with my little baby boy. You may not believe it, but I have tons of ideas in my head, and pattern making is just one way for me to get them out before my little head gets overloaded.

My sister has been urging me to make her a night gown for the party next month – and although I am quite busy, I start thinking of a night gown that is simple but still sexy enough for her to be the center of attention that night. My sister is also a petite, but she has quite long and straight legs so she does not look too short. I believe a gown that is able to show off her legs may be a good choice.

I have sketched the ideas, and this seems to be a good option – what do you think?

Now, I am all pumped up! Let’s start making the pattern for this little darling. I will share with you the pattern for this dress after I finish making it and try it on the 3D model in the CAD program.

Free PDF pattern: Sleeveless flounce hem dress (petite sizes)

As promised, I am posting the pattern for the Sleeveless Flounce Hem Dress for petite ladies! Hope you enjoy sewing this baby and please share with me the garment that you make!

The pattern is created in pdf format using A4 paper. I can also create the pattern in other paper sizes (A0 to A4, Letter, Tabloid), so please inform me if you need them.

Print the patterns on A4 paper at actual size/no scaling/100%. Not sure how to print and cut the patterns? Check the guide here.

Cutting instruction:

After taping down all the pages following the instruction, the overall layout of the pattern pieces is like this:

The cutting instruction is for the garment with facings. If you choose to sew it with bias binding, skip the front facing and back facing pieces. If you choose to sew with bodice lining, skip the facing pieces and cut a set of front and back pieces in lining fabric.

A. Front - 1pcs

B. Back - 2pcs

C. Front Flounce - 1pcs

D. Back Flounce - 2pcs

E. Front Facing – 1pcs + Fusible Interfacing – 1pcs

F. Back Facing – 2pcs + Fusible Interfacing – 2pcs

Check for your size in the Size Chart before cutting. Not finding your size? Comment your height, bust – waist – hip measurements in the comment box below and I will send you the custom-made pattern for you as soon as I can!

New dress pattern on the go

Hi guys,

It's been (another) long time for a free pattern to appear, but don't be upset with me: I've been trying to create a new nice darling for you my dear readers!

I just want to give you a peek on my new design: the flounce hem dress! I have been working on it for a while now and is getting to the final stage of grading it. So be patient, there will be a little more time before you can sew this nice dress.

Just look at the 3D simulation I've created here. Do you think it's worth the wait?

I am now a big big fan of CAD, more specifically, Optitex 2D/3D Pattern Making Software. It's a wonderful, smart and efficient software that any designers will need to create their designs without having to go through countless trials and errors before coming to a final product. It saves me big time!

Just wait for me, I will give you this dress pattern in the near future.
