REPOST: Pattern for the staple sheath dress

As requested by one of my dear readers, I am posting here the pattern for the Staple sheath dress. I posted it long ago when I was still a newbie in pattern making, and now I have made some adjustments to the pattern and the files, I think it's time to post the new pattern files for you to use.

This pattern is a nested pattern, which contains all the sizes from XXS to XXL. It is more convenient for those who have multiple sized body (for example, a L size bust, a XL waist and a XXL size hip). You can use the trick of grading between sizes to get the pattern more fitted to your body.

The pattern is also made so that you can print it either on A4 paper or on Letter paper. You will not have to worry that there will be something left not printed if you use a different paper size from what I have to offer. Just print the first page at actual size/full scale/100% and check the measurement before you print all the remaining pages.

Attention: check your size carefully before cutting, using this Size chart.

No more rambling now, I gladly present the pattern for the Staple sheath dress for you, my dear readers:

Enjoy your sewing journey. Love!

Free PDF sewing pattern: Hi-low flounce hem gown (petite size XXS-XXL)

Hi guys,

I am presenting the petite size version of the the pattern for the hi-low flounce hem gown, as promised. I really love it when I receive feedback from you, my dear readers.

I just realized that there is a way to create multi-layered PDF files, in which I can put each size in one layer, and then you can print individual sizes separately. Voila, you will no longer need to carefully trace your size from a bunch of lines and dots. However, I am still working on this new feature, so please be patient and bear with my currently very messed up pattern files.

The nested patterns that I've posted recently are made to be printed in actual size on both A4 and letter paper, so you don't have to worry about paper sizes any more. Just use your home printer and A4 or letter paper, which one available at your place and print the patterns out.

Remember to print out the first page where I put the test square of 10cm/4in before you continue. Some people complained that they had the pattern printed smaller than the actual size and came up with very tight garments. Don't waste your time and fabric because of this carelessness.

Printed pattern after taping all the pages together

As usual, please check the size chart your size before cutting. If you belong to the group of multi-sized body, you can grade between sizes. There are a few tutorials on the Internet showing you how to grade between sizes. I will make one when I have time.

Now back to the pattern: you can download it here - the Hi-low flounce hem gown (petite size XXS-XXL).

3D simulation for my night gown

Wow, it's been a week since I talked about a night gown pattern. I almost finished the job for the pattern of the base size, but then -- my baby fell ill, and it was a nightmare! He had high fever for 3 days and I had to take him to the hospital. Although I know that it is normal for babies to fall ill, I still worry too much and feel exhausted every time he has even just a slight fever.

Now he got better (thank God), and I can return to the project. Let's see how the sketch turns out to be in 3D simulation!

What do you think about this dress? It turns out nice, isn't it? Can it be worn to a prom or a party? I am confident that it can!

I adjusted the 3D model so it looked more like a real life woman, not a supermodel like you use to see on the high street fashion websites. But still she looks beautiful in the dress, right? I believe my sister will look gorgeous in this piece also!

There are comments on my blog asking for base patterns. I promise I will post them one day for you to practice. In the meantime, just be patient with me :)

Love you all,

In the mood for a night gown

Dear readers,

I have been making patterns for quite some time, and got some emails from you encouraging me to make more and more practical and simple patterns for you to sew for themselves and their beloved ones. Of course I will, because pattern making is one of my biggest hobbies – together with sewing and watching haute couture shows and playing with my little baby boy. You may not believe it, but I have tons of ideas in my head, and pattern making is just one way for me to get them out before my little head gets overloaded.

My sister has been urging me to make her a night gown for the party next month – and although I am quite busy, I start thinking of a night gown that is simple but still sexy enough for her to be the center of attention that night. My sister is also a petite, but she has quite long and straight legs so she does not look too short. I believe a gown that is able to show off her legs may be a good choice.

I have sketched the ideas, and this seems to be a good option – what do you think?

Now, I am all pumped up! Let’s start making the pattern for this little darling. I will share with you the pattern for this dress after I finish making it and try it on the 3D model in the CAD program.

Love!

New dress pattern on the go

Hi guys,
It's been (another) long time for a free pattern to appear, but don't be upset with me: I've been trying to create a new nice darling for you my dear readers!

I just want to give you a peek on my new design: the flounce hem dress! I have been working on it for a while now and is getting to the final stage of grading it. So be patient, there will be a little more time before you can sew this nice dress.
Just look at the 3D simulation I've created here. Do you think it's worth the wait?

I am now a big big fan of CAD, more specifically, Optitex 2D/3D Pattern Making Software. It's a wonderful, smart and efficient software that any designers will need to create their designs without having to go through countless trials and errors before coming to a final product. It saves me big time!
Just wait for me, I will give you this dress pattern in the near future.
Love,
